An Unexplained Journey

Have you ever wondered that your life is going through a difficult phase. Maybe you are wrong. Because there are some people in our society that hide their fear behind a smile but live a life which is darker than a night in a new moon. This is the story of a family living in one of the remote areas of the country. Ramesh and his wife Laxmi were poor farmers working in their small piece of land along with their two daughters - rani the elder one and younger one Munni. As the financial condition of the family was not good, Ramesh had to keep his land on mortgage to feed his family. The village in which they were living was not blessed by rain god for last 2 years. Ramesh had only one option left in front of him, that is to cultivate crops on the farm and survive. But he did not have that much of fortune and the rain had not occurred till the month of September. With nothing to eat and pay the mortgage amount, the moneylender name Vishwasrao called him and abused him. Ramesh explained him his situation and asked for some more time. Cruel Vishwasrao offered him, Ramesh, a deal that he would free off his mortgage and in return, his elder daughter must marry Vishwasrao. As Vishwasrao was a 50 year old divorced man with alcohol and drug addict, while Rani was just 16 years old.

Helpless Ramesh returned home and told about the deal to his wife. Laxmi was not ready to accept the deal but no further path can be seen so she agreed by the force of her husband. Marriage was held and Viswasrao promised that he would take care of Rani. The starting two months were pushed by Rani as a wife but after few days when Ramesh went to Vishwasrao's residence to see his daughter, the watchman told him that they left for town a few days before. Ramesh got a little bit scared and tried to contact Vishwasrao but no replies he got.

Vishwasrao took Rani in town in promise that they would live there and he would get Rani a job. But after reaching town, the beast inside Vihwasrao had risen. Everyday brutal beatings and torture were in the plates of Rani. In the toxication of drugs and alcohol, Vishwasrao would tear off the clothes of Rani and beat her until his toxication would end. After his pleasure and need was ended by Rani, he sold that girl to a red light area where sexual abuse happened to here every now and then. Many a times she tried to escape from that hell but the guards of the area had a strong look on all the ides of the street.

One night police raided that area and all the chaos happened. Looking as an opportunity to escape, Rani jumped over the fence and ran away from that area. she decided to leave for her vilage which was approximately 50 miles away. The way of transport was not possible in that area as only those with cars were able to travel. with only 100 bucks in her hand she started her journey from town. Walking by the steep road in summer afternoon was a big challenge. By day one lunch and a glass of water where all her 100 bucks were over and still the village was half way long. She spent her night under a tree. As she started walking on day two she was tired and had no energy to walk, somehow she reached a small hotel where only one man was present and she asked for some water, the man offered her water with a bad look on his face towards Rani. the man then offered Rani some food to eat. Rani first did not accepted it but due to extreme tiredness she had to comsume the food. the man asked for money from Rani. Rani told that she had nothing to pay. The man got angry at Rani and started fighting for his money. Afraid and angry Rani furiously pulled off her own clothes and asked that man, "Can this thing pay off your bill?" The man felt ashamed of himself and apologized for his actions. He helped Rani to reach her village and dropped her to her home where Ramesh was sitting besides the wall.

Seeing Rani in such a condition he started crying and said that he was responsible for the situation that Rani is in now. Rani hugged her family and thanked that man for helping her. After reaching home Rani explained each and everything that happened with here in town. Now Rani and her family live together but the journey which Rani went through was UNEXPLAINED........
