An Unexpected Piece Of Luck
An Unexpected Piece Of Luck
"Stop beating around the bush", while screaming at him I was thinking that I was biting off more than I could chew.
It was a blessing in disguise that the person whom I was shouting out was my best friend. This is an incident which finished with an imperfect but with a good ending which taught me a lesson of utilizing every second of my life.
I remember till now also that how that damp, cheerful day turned as a bummer, terrible, unlucky day.
He called me that rainy morning and asked me to join him for coffee, as always I agreed and reached our favourite cafe on time and was sure that he will be going to be late as he was getting late from years of our friendship but that day there was something wrong, unusual and especially suspicious because he, my dearest monkey was on time which was the rarest thing happened on that day. We sat on our favorite table, a table near that large window from which we used to enjoy the beautiful scenery of woods and chirping of birds because that was the only cafe in our city which was so close to nature and was having the best coffee.
I realized that he was hiding something from me and was behaving mysteriously. That he started to utter - mummer with his shaky, fussy voice............
"I have a flight today from Delhi to Amsterdam, this is going to be our last meeting, I think so, amm"
His few words seemed like a thunderclap to me, I shouted at him in that cafe as if that cafe belonged to me and he was a chef which did a mistake, I shouted "STOP! SHUT UP! I'M LEAVING RIGHT NOW AND DON'T DARE TO CONTACT ME FROM NOW ONWARDS", I was knowing very well that I was overreacting but I wasn't able to control myself at that time period.
He was giving some kind of explanations but without listening, without ordering two extra-large cups of our favourite coffee with extra sugar and without using his debit card to pay the bill - I left the cafe.
And this was one of the biggest mistakes I did!
While walking towards my car I was calculating his journey time....." at which time he is going to leave this place because he will be going to Delhi for catching the flight..from here to Delhi it took us 4hours when we both have our fun trip.....sooooooooo ammmmmmm " Then I checked the flight schedule on that day from Delhi to Amsterdam, I found that on that day there was only one flight which was flying and the flight was in 5 hours only.... I realized that I missed the opportunity to meet him for the last time..... While driving back to my house those 15 minutes. Seemed like 15 years of our friendship, our memories. I went back to my house, slept for the whole day for no reason with switched off the phone.
As I woke up the next morning, again that rainy shimmery morning... I decided to read the newspaper...as I opened the newspaper, my whole body felt a thunder stroke.....the headline said that
"THE PLANE FROM DELHI TO AMSTERDAM CRASHED 60 DIED AND 15 RESCUED "!!!!!
With shivering fingers I switched on my phone and dialed his number....his number was unreachable, I called his mother, father but none of them picked my call... I was getting nervous, terrible second by second but then someone interfered my silence, my miseries by knocking my door...
I opened the door with one of the worst thoughts that I could have ever had in my whole life until that date.
My eyes sparkled as I saw that monkey ...him standing at my door holding the newspaper and with a smile, he entered my house, as usual, he used to enter without asking me as other normal days....and then he said in low voice" Yesterday we didn't have our coffee, lets have some coffee "
He was mysterious but i decided to flow with the flow of time, without talking anything about yesterday.....we both sat and had our coffee with extra sugar one more time!
What an unexpected piece of luck I had on that day!
