Abandon

Anuradha was in her mid sixties. Her children were married and well settled. In her free time, she used to knit, even was fond of embroidery but then she also got interested in Computer . The social media attracted her a bit. At times, she used to search her college mates. She used to recall those beautiful days when she was young and enthusiastic about life. 

One day, she met her long lost college mate on social media. She started conversing with him on various topics of life. They both shared bitter sweet experiences about life. 

She never had any idea that wave lengths do match even at such an old age. She was very fond of reading and writing and he used to suggest some very good books which matched her classic taste. Later they used to discuss the fine lines of the book. Literature and music were their main topics. They used live in different cities and they never thought of meeting each other as she was suffering from many age related ailments.

At times they shared the discourses and videos of saints and literary people who suggest how to remain positive in all phases of life and how to take care of your health in this stage of life. 

He used to sing so well in various music groups and used to post his videos on YouTube. She subscribed to his channel. Whenever he used to sing, she used to get the notification and she enjoyed listening to his songs. She used to feel so proud when he was applauded by the audience. She used to comment, encourage and ask him to continue with his hobby of singing.

She was happy with this beautiful platonic relationship . Five years passed by and it seemed that it will last forever, but as the adage goes that Change is the only permanent thing in the world, rest all is temporary. 

Frequency of messages started deteriorating and he didn't give her any reason for that. Later she came to know through somebody that he and his whole family was suffering from Corona. When she asked, he said it was just a viral fever. Gradually he and his whole family recovered. Meanwhile Anuradha prayed day and night for their recovery. 

Finally everything was fine but messages stopped. She gave him lots of space as the maturity demands to be quiet and give space to the person, so that he can recover from the trauma of the deadly disease. 

Time passed by , she often wondered what happened to this five year long friendship. One day she saw him online and asked him inquisitively that why doesn't he reply to her messages. 

The reply which she got shocked her. He said..."No grievances, I re-evaluated myself and want to discontinue with this relationship. " She thought and thought for days together....what must be the reason...nobody knows. She thought ....breaking off is not a sin but the reasons must be explained. Not telling the reason depicts that she was not even worthy of an explanation. She felt very very sad.

Days passed by and one fine day there was YouTube notification. She opened and saw him singing at some concert. She was happy to see him. He abandoned her without any explanation but he is fine and survived that deadly disease was enough for her.
