Nitin and Dinesh were roommates, no not in a hostel or in the lodge or something!! They were roommates in an ICU of a hospital. Both were admitted in critical conditions and were undergoing treatment.

While Nitin had got his bed situated beside the only window in his room, Dinesh's bed was situated just beside him.

As both could not move due to their conditions, all day long they had to lay in their beds.

One day Dinesh said to Nitin that at least the latter had his bed situated beside the window, from where he could watch the outside world. Nitin did not say anything. After some time he said 'Yes, I am seeing children playing in the park, parents walking with their children, lovers talking, birds, animals like cows, dogs, swans swimming in a small pond etc.

From that day, Nitin started telling Dinesh all that he saw from his window.

This continued till one day Nitin passed away in his sleep at night!

After his body was taken for postmortem, Dinesh asked a nurse to shift him to Nitin's bed. She agreed.

But alas! when he got there, all that he could watch from the window was a wall which was of the adjacent building!

He curiously asked the nurse that where is the park where the children play and where are the road and a small pond...

The nurse said that there was never any park around nor any pond or road! All that was visible from this window was this wall!

Dinesh now understood that Nitin told him these stories of park, pond and the world outside in order to keep him engaged and happy!! He felt very sad for his friend and missed him very much!!!
