A Phone Call
A Phone Call
His phone rang. An irritated frown etched on his face. How many times has he told her not to call when in a meeting? Why don't she understand? He declined the call. He would give a call later. But that later never came. He became busy with his own world that he forgot so many important people in his life. But thankfully he never got her call again and neither did he care. Why should he?
Days later he found himself wondering about her. He tried to ignore the nagging tug of his heart saying something was wrong with her. He didn't pay any attention. He went on with his work. Drowned in his work and alcohol... Later that night he got a call from an unknown number saying that she is no more. The glass slipped from his hand. He couldn't believe the news. How could she? Wasn't she healthy when he moved out? He didn't know. He didn't care then.
But when this news came he couldn't process anything. The harsh truth fell upon him. If he had not declined those calls... A huge guilt fell in his heart. The only family he had was gone and it was then he yearned for her voice, her calls, her touch and her... The value of a diamond was not known when it was undiscovered but once it came out it became more precious...
