A Marriage Chosen by Destiny
A Marriage Chosen by Destiny
In Pune, two prominent business families had earned a respected name in the city.
Abasaheb Deshmukh, the owner of Deshmukh Industries, and Bhausaheb Patil, the owner of Patil Industries, had shared a close family relationship for many years. Although their businesses were separate, the two families were deeply connected.
Abasaheb’s granddaughter, Natasha Deshmukh, was an intelligent, confident young woman who wanted to make her own decisions in life.
Bhausaheb’s son, Vivek Patil, was an educated, capable and simple-hearted young man.
The two had never even met.
But because of the long-standing relationship between their families, a decision was eventually made—
Natasha and Vivek would get married.
When Natasha heard about it, she was upset.
"How can I marry someone I have never even met?"
Vivek felt exactly the same way.
"It is my life. Why should a decision about my life be made without asking me?"
Both of them tried hard to convince their families.
But Abasaheb and Bhausaheb were firm.
"This relationship is very important to us. Both families want it. Once you get married, you will understand each other."
The wedding date was fixed.
Preparations began in both houses.
But Natasha and Vivek were mentally unwilling to accept the marriage.
And on the very day of the wedding, both decided to leave home separately.
Natasha reached a place in Pune.
Coincidentally, Vivek also happened to be in the same area.
Neither of them knew that the person they were trying to escape from was about to enter their lives in an unexpected way.
That night, they met by chance at a bar.
Natasha was sitting quietly at a corner table.
Vivek entered and happened to sit at a nearby table.
After some time, they started talking casually.
"You look very upset," Vivek said.
Natasha smiled faintly.
"Today was supposed to be my wedding."
Vivek was surprised.
"What?"
"Yes. But I didn't want to get married. So I ran away."
Vivek thought to himself—
She is in exactly the same situation as me!
He smiled and said,
"My wedding was also supposed to take place today."
Now Natasha was surprised.
The two began laughing.
"So both of us have run away from our weddings!"
That strange coincidence brought them closer.
Neither revealed their real names.
Natasha introduced herself as Nisha.
Vivek told her his name was Amit.
They talked openly for hours.
Natasha liked Vivek's simplicity.
Vivek admired Natasha's straightforward nature.
Both wondered—
"Why does talking to this stranger feel so natural, when we were unwilling to marry someone we had never even met?"
By the end of the night, they confessed their feelings to each other.
"Nisha, I like you."
"Amit... I like you too."
There was a moment of silence.
Then Natasha said,
"We have chosen each other. Why should we wait for someone else's decision?"
The very next day, they decided to get married in court.
And so, two complete strangers became husband and wife.
Natasha told Vivek,
"I don't have a job at the moment. I want to work."
"Where?" Vivek asked.
"I am going to attend an interview at Patil Industries."
Vivek almost smiled.
But he still did not reveal his identity.
He secretly called a senior employee of the company.
"A girl named Natasha will be coming for an interview. Interview her, and if she is qualified, give her the job."
"Sir, any special instructions?"
"Yes. Consider her my wife... but don't tell her who I am."
Vivek continued to hide his identity.
A few days later, Natasha arrived at Patil Industries for her interview.
She was selected.
On her first day at work, everything was new to her.
She began working sincerely and soon impressed everyone with her abilities.
But there was one strange thing.
Everyone at the company treated her with unusual respect.
She couldn't understand why.
One day she asked an employee,
"Why does everyone treat me with so much respect?"
The employee became nervous.
"Nothing, ma'am..."
"There's definitely something."
"You are... I mean... the boss's—"
He suddenly stopped.
Natasha became suspicious.
Meanwhile, Vivek secretly kept an eye on her progress.
He was happy to see how sincerely she worked.
But neither of them knew that destiny was about to reveal the biggest secret of their lives.
One day, an important business meeting was held at the company.
All the senior officers were present.
Natasha was also there regarding an important project.
The meeting began.
After some time, the door opened.
Everyone stood up respectfully.
Natasha turned around.
And she froze.
Standing before her was—
Vivek Patil!
Vivek was equally stunned.
"Vivek...?"
"Natasha...?"
For a few moments, neither could speak.
Natasha finally asked,
"What are you doing here?"
Vivek replied,
"This is my company."
Natasha stared at him in disbelief.
"Then you are... Vivek Patil?"
"Yes."
Vivek looked at her.
"And you are Natasha Deshmukh?"
They stared at each other.
Then Natasha put her hand on her forehead.
"Oh, God!"
Vivek burst out laughing.
Natasha said,
"So the marriage we were both running away from..."
Vivek completed her sentence—
"Was our marriage!"
Both of them started laughing.
Natasha said,
"I can't believe it! We ran away from the person we were supposed to marry... and ended up marrying each other!"
Vivek smiled.
"Destiny understood us better than our families did."
Both had tears of happiness in their eyes.
A few days later, they told their families the whole story.
Abasaheb and Bhausaheb were speechless at first.
Then they looked at each other.
Bhausaheb laughed.
"We fixed their marriage... they rejected it... they ran away... and then they got married themselves!"
Abasaheb laughed heartily.
"We wanted to unite our families, and our children found their own way of doing it!"
The entire house filled with laughter.
Natasha hugged her grandfather.
"Grandfather, I didn't want the marriage you had planned for me. But destiny brought me to the same person anyway."
Vivek held his father's hand.
"Dad, the girl you chose for me turned out to be the woman I chose for myself."
Both families happily accepted their relationship.
They decided to celebrate their marriage once again in a traditional ceremony.
This time, Natasha and Vivek sat happily together in the wedding ceremony.
Abasaheb and Bhausaheb watched them with pride and happiness.
Natasha quietly said to Vivek,
"We ran away from our wedding the first time..."
Vivek smiled.
"But we couldn't run away from our destiny."
Natasha smiled back.
"Because our story had already been written."
Vivek held her hand.
The two families had arranged a marriage neither of them wanted. Two strangers, however, met by chance, fell in love, married by their own choice—and eventually discovered that they were the very same two people their families had chosen for each other.
