The darkness of the dusk might be an emblem of the world to stop working and rest; for Shama, it was an indication to get perceptive for her job. There was no “End of the Day”, since she had to work the entire night and sometimes up until dawn. Each night she was trying unsuccessfully to conceal the scars on her face with a makeup’s touch, but the wounds of her soul remained untouched. There was neither a cosmetic available to cover those marks, nor remedy to heal it. She acquired these scars on the day she was abducted and forced to do the job that her dignity never consented. Her life was a mystery now. She was welcomed to enter this profession, but not to leave it. They did not care that she was the only earning member of the family, who fed her younger sister too.

“Aren’t you ready Shama, the customer is waiting”- he screeched.

“Yes, I am”. She started to move towards the dark, never-ending tunnel of her life that had no exit.

Sadness faded and a smile appeared when she saw with twinkling eyes towards the ray of light coming from the lamp, her sister lit to study.
