Chapter 37

I decided to reach out to you because I got the confidence that my father would accept you... I was so lost in my thoughts on how to contact you. It was on March 27th exactly at 3:35pm when I was totally lost in your memories our landline started ringing, I answered the call which shattered all my dreams and hopes.

The person who called was my father's colleague, he said your dad with three others were killed by our enemy’s attack... my head went blank…. I couldn't believe what I heard… I didn’t even know what I was doing at that time, my mother came running.. That’s when I realized I had been screamed my lungs out, she asked me what happened… Why I was crying.. How could I tell her that she lost her loving husband, how could I tell her I lost my dad? But I had no other option I had to break the news to her, with a loud cry I said dad left us mom, dad left us he is no more in this world... The next second my mother was on the floor unconscious. 

 

The worst day of my life.. my mother and I rushed to the hospital... It was the most gut wrenching day of my life…to see my father’s lifeless body made me want to run away from everything and everyone forever…I cried everyday… a month passed my mother hadn't come out of the shock yet and my younger sister couldn't accept the fact of our father's demise. I started missing you again, I just needed your shoulder to cry on and your hands to console me. That's when I remembered my father's last words... He said my family is my responsibility, and his wish was to see me as a doctor... The government supported us in all the ways, I pushed your thoughts aside, made my family my priority and concentrated on my studies. But there wasn't a single day that passed without your memories and thoughts.

Two years passed I completed my B.Sc and joined MBBS... My sister who was just a year younger to me completed her BE when I was doing my MBBS 2nd year, she then found a job and worked for few years, when I was in my final year she fell in love with a Punjabi boy, we happily got her married.

My mother wasn't completely happy, she wanted me to get married soon, I kept requesting her to let me complete my studies finally I completed my MBBS and got offered a job in a reputed hospital... I finally decided to come meet you and ask if you still had feelings for me... I took a flight accompanied by one of my friend who had an interview with "Manipal Hospital" here and I came all the way in search of you, my travel hours were filled with imaginations of meeting you.

The minute we settled in the hotel room, I was all set to go to college to check if I can gather any details about you, but my friend wanted me to accompany her for the interview and I did. We reached the hospital and were in the elevator going to 5th floor for the interview. In between the elevator stopped in 2nd floor for people to get in and get out and exactly the door of the lift opposite to ours opened and I... I saw you there. You have no idea how happy I was John… “Then why did you not call out to me?” asked John disappointed... With a smirk and eyes filled with sorrow Roslyn continued, I couldn't get out immediately, I got out in the next floor, I didn't know if the lift in which you were went up or down, I was running around like a mad woman searching for you but I couldn't find you, I thought you had become a doctor like me I peeped into each and every cabin with no luck.

I finally saw you in front of the operation theatre, I was so elated John my eyes started tearing upon with joy, I came running towards you, I was just 5 feet away from you when the doctor came out and said "congrats John your wife has delivered girl baby!"
