Yesterday

Thinking of yesterday,

As I hid from all the pain.

Remembering the moments,

That made me feel insane.

Thinking of the moments,

That hurt my body and my soul,

As I was filled with deep regret,

That I'd never become whole.

Thinking of the wounds so deep,

Wondering if they'd ever heal,

And as those memories did creep,

I chose to numb and not to feel.

Thinking of the ones who hurt me,

When my heart was full of trust.

The ones who took my spirit from me,

All because of their disgust.

You can never again hurt me.

I am the one that's in control,

Of all the precious parts of me.

That for so long I was broken.

But I'll continue to grow,
