Unrequited
Unrequited
Deep, deep inside me
I nurse a truth.
Shielded from the world
With thorny shrubs.
Concealed with loose earth.
Barricaded with rocks.
A moat thereafter, with a drawbridge locked.
No lights inside,
Lest it be revealed.
A precious secret
Of a heart
Lost in vain.
Longings of lonely nights
Dressed in robust colours
During the day.
Craving to hear some sweet words,
A warm voice,
Comforting,
A strong arm to rest my head.
To gaze into his eyes
And lose myself
In the throes of passion
Lasting through the night.
Till sleep shuts out such thoughts
And fatigue takes charge.
The heart cannot be heard.
Its voice must be stilled.
For many a soul
The heart beats alone.
Unheard. Unfelt.
Just a mass of blood
Hiding deep secrets.
