The day broke,

As the rays of light, Touched the tips of the Green grass,

The glimmering Dewdrops,

Danced like pearls, Floating on the rippling Water,

The flowers, with Enchanted fragrance, Danced to and fro with Their scalloped petals.

All of a sudden, the Nose wrenching Polluted air bothered Me,

My sound and inviting Sleep, suddenly seemed To disappear,

My muddled mind, and Disheartened heart, Turned away from my Bed.

Noticing my uneasy Appetite rumble for Breakfast,

My mother poured out a Few ladles of broth,

As an unpleasant, but Familiar smell filled the Air,

I stood in wonder - Is This enough? For seven Hungry stomachs!

Gazing from the opening Of a wall of my rundown House,

Could not believe what My tiny little curious Eyes glanced,

There, I drooled to see My neighbor's patio,

A table well laid with red Velvet, and all Delectable delicacies,

My little heart could Ever desire for,

I was sure it could feed A crowd,

But, to my Surprise, Found four in all!

Then, in came my mom With a pile of clothes,

And with an instruction Of fetching some water From the village well.

My poor frail legs, they Could never think of Walking a mile- just for A pail of water!

As I went past, my Neighbor's house,

I noticed gallons of Water forming an Enormous puddle

Gushing out from a Garden faucet.

How, I longed to Harvest, Every single Drop that Touched the ground,

As I carried my water Pail on very trembling And aching limbs.

A pair of caring hands Gave me a glass of Water,

With a heart full of Gratitude, and eyes full Of love, I received it.

The muddy and tinted Water,

Sure proved like honey To me,

And, I know those caring Hands took all the Efforts to make it Sparkle.

The sun was set and it Rose again, it was Another new day.

Excited feet of my Neighbor's daughter, Were off to school;

Isn’t it my dream too?

In next few moments;

I was sent to the store, With very few coins in My apron pocket, Jingling,

As I passed the school Gate,

I saw a huge room, Stacked with books Through a glistening Window,

And with curiosity, I Wondered what it was!

As I continued my walk To the store my eyes Fell,

On delightful spread of Sweet treats, of every color and shape;

It was an unforgettable Sight and I couldn’t Name any of them.

Yearning and longing, as Slow as a snail I paced My way back home.

Calendars flipped away And there came a day, Our neighbor's Daughter to go far away;

May be it’s to London or To Scotland, I heard my Mother say;

She’s going to study and Stay.

Gaping at the starry sky, I wondered! how she Could fly!

This thought kept me Wide awake all through The night.

Gathering up the Courage, I walked down To mother the next day,

Bold enough to ask my Mom with quivering lips,

“Why can’t I go to School? And is there a Way?”

As if the earth shook; I Don’t know what!

The dish in her hand Goes down with a crash!

The chilling and freezing Air came inside the Room, without even Being granted Permission,

I let out a scream, and Found myself sitting by My bed,

I was immensely Overwhelmed,

Two sets of hands, Holding me tight and Close.

Once again it made me Think,

God created the earth For all to enjoy equally, To live peacefully, and to Walk happily;

Then why is it? only the Privileged few get to Own the Garden of Eden?

While tens and Thousands live in Extreme depletion!
