Turning Back The Clock

The last time I sat in my mothers’ lap, the last time I sat on my fathers’ shoulder,

The time I grew from a child to a boy older,

Makes me wish, can I turn back the clock?

Not having the fear of losing, not knowing the meaning of failure,

Not worrying about knowing what all I have to face in future,

Makes me wish, can I turn back the clock?

Ignorant to cheating, ignorant to breaking of trust,

Ignorant to a life, where constant lying is a must,

Makes me wish, can I turn back the clock?

Shielded from bad dreams, shielded from a broken heart,

Shielded from losing someone who, in your life played an important part,

Makes me wish, can I turn back the clock?

Taking each day as it comes, thinking each challenge is small,

Always knowing that someone would hold me lest I fall,

Makes me wish, can I turn back the clock?

Waiting for Santa Claus, believing in good deeds,

Thinking that joy and love is all that I require to fulfil all of my needs,

Makes me wish, can I turn back the clock?

Worshipping Allah and Ram with equal respect,

Not understanding why a long beard would qualify me to be a suspect,

Makes me wish, can I turn back the clock?

Learnt to lie, learnt to be suspicious, learnt to be judgemental,

Learnt to be gullible, learnt to be materialistic, and learnt to be immoral,

Makes me dejected, why I did not turn back the clock?

Learnt to be strong, learnt to be brave, learnt to be independent,

Learnt to be loyal, learnt to be aware, and learnt to be tolerant,

Makes me glad that I did not turn back the clock.
