Three Wise Monkeys
Three Wise Monkeys
In a frame three wise monkeys,
Teach us the life lesson of resilience.
The first one says,
“Hear no evil.”
How can I close my ears to the sound
Of wailing farmers’ families?
Seriously violated little daughter,
Mothers painful howling.
The second monkey says
“See no evil.”
Should I close my eyes
The ragged beggar girl
At the traffic signal.
The small boy at the restaurant
Washing vessels, ten times more than
His weight, in hungry stomach.
“Speak no evil,”
Says the third monkey.
How can I remain silent
When corruption
Takes the center stage?
Politicians pollute minds
For their own interest.
Draw division lines
Should I remain mum
When my very existence is at stake?
