The Weight Of Poverty

Poverty, a weight that drags us down,

A burden that crushes with each pound.

It's a hunger that gnaws at our soul,

And a thirst that we cannot control.

We dream of a life without want or need,

Where we can grow, and our families can feed.

But the weight of poverty is hard to bear,

And its grip on our lives is hard to repair.

We strive to rise above our circumstance,

To find a way out, to take a chance.

But the world can be a cruel and unfair place,

And poverty can be hard to erase.

We see the wealthy, and we wonder why,

Their lives seem easy, their dreams fly high.

But we know the weight they do not bear,

The weight of poverty, with its crushing despair.
