The Things We Break

The Things We Break

1 min 186 1 min 186

The things we lose, the things we break

Like shards of glass scattered on the floor

We find out later it was a mistake

We feel the storm inside us quake

As we take stock of what’s in store

The things we lose, the things we break

Our pasted-on smiles for the kids’ sake

Fall away forevermore

We find out later it was a mistake

For years this union has seemed so fake

Now there is only hatred to the core

The things we lose, the things we break

Anger causing us to shake

Can’t stand this feeling anymore

We find out later it was a mistake

We feel like failures in this life we couldn’t make

Packed and headed for the shore

The things we lose, the things we break

We find out later it was a mistake
