The Sound Of Silence
The Sound Of Silence
Thomas Sankara said,
“Comrades, there is no true social
Revolution without the liberation of women;
May my eyes never see and feet never
Take ..me to a society where half the people
Are held in silence;
I hear a roar of women’s silence;
I sense the rumble of their storm and
Feel the fury of their revolt.”
The sound of silence;
From brutality and abuse, her tears
Are falling to the ground in the sound of silence;
As the perpetrator manipulates her emotions;
And cut the flesh of her spirit with his dialect;
And covers himself up in the name of love;
Her scars are noted in the sound of silence.
Because she cannot speak for herself;
He ties his liver and implores her;
Not to tell her mother and he bribes her silence;
With a few coins to content his flesh;
And leave the body of a six-year-old girl marred;
And she camouflages her pain from her mother;
With the sound of silence.
Men are dejected out there;
They believe their strength is hidden;
Behind the sound of silence;
But it is the sound of silence that yells;
The hymn of death in their ears;
Because the sound of silence is the loudest.
When the sun had set;
The sound of silence breaks in;
When a soul looks through the window;
And all it sees is darkness and all an ear hears;
Is the sound of silence;
The fear of sighting darkness splinters the spirit;
And faith conceals in the sound of silence.
It is when you perfect your sight;
That you discern the sound of the silence;
When they pontificate but never talk;
The partition of their lips, but no voice;
And their bodies bespeak the words;
That is lying within the sound of silence.
