The sonnet of the Moonless Night
The sonnet of the Moonless Night
In the midnight, I peered through the window
Expecting the moon and its fading yellow .
But I found the sky gloomy and dark
No bright stars or no gleams of the moon
It was silent and everywhere shadows lurked.
I knew dawn wasn't soon.
Still I searched for the vibrant streaks,
But only darkness filled my vision .
I saw an owl and heard it's mysterious shrieks ,
I felt nothing right , out of my intuition.
The moonless sky looked like a wingless bird ,
A nameless fear , an unknown chill crawled up my sleeve
Neither a speck of light was seen now a rustling was heard .
Then in the pitch dark I saw a fairy dance as if she for the moon grieved .
