The Song Of My Life

As I sit all alone,

I get thinking once again,

About the irreversible past,

Which forever lasts and lingers .........

Frozen images, vivid and preserved memories ........

"Alas", I say to myself for hundredth time,

Maybe I should have,

Done this and that then .........

Maybe I shouldn't have,

Been like that then ..........

Maybe I should have,

Responded to wakeup calls ........

Still I ponder,

All about what I have been through,

Until I wonder,

What happened to me then???

And then I come to a point when,

I see myself living it once again ..........

With all the choked emotions,

Of events rushing back,

Of sudden twists and turns,

The ward room - the 20' × 20' cubicle,

Where we spent those last and eternal moments together,

Till I find myself devoid of all feelings,

Devoid of all emotions and regrets,

Devoid of all guilt and innocence,

Surprised at my own recovery,

Only to float back to reality,

To the present world of cruelty!!!
