The Search
The tranquil music of the waves
Silence of the violent seas
Vibrant, riotous beauty of colours
Of slowly breaking dawn
Waiting for the Sun's first rays
Glimpses of gold lighting up the dark
A curtain of silver clouds
I watch a tiny boat bobbing
Surviving the rough, mighty waves
Its jostling rhythm riding in tune
I wait for a long awaited smile
To somehow reach my lips
For empty eyes to sparkle
Tired heart to flutter once more
Where have I reached today
That there
remains no beyond
No prayers for the future
Or the pangs of nostalgia
Just this quiet acceptance
And some questions hanging in the air
A solitary walk along the beach
Perhaps as lonely as life itself
How endless this expanse seems
Stretching ahead, bland, constant
As meaningless as existence itself
Merely a cosmic experience
To live, to love, to lose, to learn
Feel it all, and still be in search
Of some meaning to define ourselves
Some fragile reason to keep holding on
