The Scar Game

Let's show each other scars,

With a bit of hesitation, 'yes' she said.

He wanted to feel trusted,

But she didn't like where this would head.

This, is from the day I fell off my bike,

Another, from a slip during my hike.

My cat scratched my shoulder,

He laughed hard as he held her.

This, is from the day I was ragged at school,

Another, from the beatings at home I took.

Tears almost fell onto her imaginary cape,

Talking about the time her uncle tried to rape.

Stunned, he didn't know what to say.

Still holding her hand, he whispered,

'You, my love, have had a lot to see,

The next scar on your wrist I promise to never be.'
