The Rising Red
The Rising Red
The colour red it is,
The most auspicious in Hindu myths,
While it drapes the Goddess
This signifies a danger to all the evil
In the furnace.
Marking the day of passion
The second day is when every good
Showers their aggression,
The anger is to uproot the insanity
The massacre of the demons she does
Through the wink of her vanity.
The carnival was sung, the dhols played
To burn the effigy of ill and derailed,
The vermilion caressed her forehead,
To mark the beginning of purity
And the end of ‘asurs’ behead.
