The Quill Is My Paramour

The quill is my paramour, it divulges my essence,

It speaks to the world in ink, it fills me with presence.

But the world is full of lies, they weave a web of deceit,

They dictate my life with rules, they clip my wings and feet.

Deception is ubiquitous, but I discern the verity,

I ignore their false words, I cling to my own lucidity.

But lucidity comes with a price, it pierces me like a thorn,

It exposes the harsh truth, it leaves me broken and torn.

Tears inundate my eyes, I can't slumber without agony,

I suffer in silence every night, I have nothing to attain.

But I still have a flicker of hope, a hope that lights my way,

A hope for something better, a hope for a new day.

My heart is ablaze, it burns with passion and pain,

Nothing is the same as before, everything has changed,

I yearn for something superior, I aspire for a new domain.
