The Moon

Born to sage Atri and the Divine

Trinity's mother, Anusaya;

Brother of Lord Dattatreya and

angry sage Durvasa;

One of the eyes of the Cosmic

Person(Virata Purusha),

the other being the Sun;

Beloved Uncle of all,

A symbol of the mind as well

for its fluctuating nature of

waxing and waning.

Adored by lovers,

Loved by children,

Solace to anguished hearts

And inspiration to poets,

artists and musicians.

Attended upon by a multitude of

sparkling stars,

He is the glory of Sky

And the joy of Nature.

Despite being bright and beautiful,

He bears the blemish in his person

to remind man of his

darkness and to teach him to

overlook others' faults but deals

harshly with his own.

This is true illumination.

That man must learn.
