The Last Wish

The Last Wish

There never had been, a child so cute,

But here he was, the little brute;

All play and ever so innocent,

He lived his life, every moment.

Came the teenager, bubbling and bold,

Waiting for the day when he would change the world;

Revolting against every rule of the nature,

His life lay in await of the future,

Soon smart a young man, he became,

Learning all the tricks of the game,

Straining every limb to climb the ladder,

His life was all but his career.

It was not long before, our man was caught,

Quite unawares, in the marriage knot,

Before he realized, years whizzed past,

And life to him, was an opportunity lost.

Age caught up with him pretty soon,

He was now past the life's noon,

Things around him were now moving too fast,

And his life was left,

Only with the memories of his past.

An old man, he was on his death bed,

"Ask what you want", the angel of death said;

"For all the deeds of my life good" he said,

"Just give me back a day of my childhood".
