The Christmas Time Of The Year

The dim lights suddenly begin to glow

A festive feeling that we all know

Shimmers in the air around

As the snowflakes gently glaze the ground

 

The postman’s on his way to North Pole

While the old settle down with a shivering soul

While the young go ‘round bribing in stores

So excited, they don’t feel no cold

 

A day when no nanny would huff

About the children jumping in the room above

Through everyone the greatest feeling would spread

The warm feeling of being loved

 

As the children fail to stay awake

To be heard is the sound of the bells that shake

As Santa’s reindeers land with a thud

On the snow-covered roof of a hut

 

With silent moves he slowly climbs down

The chimney to reach the solid ground

Where he finds his favorite drink and pie

And gulps them down and lets out a sigh

 

He walks over to the ornamented tree

That awaits him in total glee

Under it he leaves the presents

For everyone to find after they’d missed his presence

 

As the next morning the children groan

Of having missed Santa’s visit

But these complaints were no longer known

As the inviting gifts come into their vision

 

So is the routine that’s followed every year

By the old and the young without any tear

Everyone’s favorite it is

The Christmas time of the year.
