The Best Time Travel

I’ve often seen folks excited for time travel,

Yet hardly any of them must have experienced it!

Well known of the fact that this is merely fiction,

Alike finding sun when its utterly moonlit!

Though I find this a vague concept of philosophy,

For there’s nothing as such as a time machine!

But curiosity was there to know about those days of 60s,

Which grew me anxious and keen!

This happened to me when I was in standard 7th,

And was leisurely enjoying the vacations!

When Naani came to visit us for a few days,

And helped me lapse time through all generations!

Lying on her lap after we had a delicious lunch,

She was trying hard to make me eat an apple!

But I knew it well back then,

For she could be my best time travel!

And then Naani began with her favorite tale,

Of how she groomed my mom during 1657!

In the days when life wasn’t that easy,

She still strived to bring mom the seventh heaven!

The times of their hardship and troubles,

Even those moments of joy amid the despair,

Was perfectly rhymed by Naani at a go,

As if it was all fresh in her heart, seeming utterly crystal clear!

But then she still continued narrating,

About all those difficult times they’ve been through!

And how she became a single mother,

After Naanu had bid them his final adieu!

Yet whenever she felt a lump in her throat,

I would pretend for having slept!

Though I imbibed her each anecdote in my soul,

I could feel being back in time with some strong connect!

And this is how without any time machine,

Naani took me to the past!

Helping me travel time with her stories,

And reminding me how her struggles would forever outlast!
