Zombies Of 21st Century

Ever heard of zombies or confronted any?

Uhhh! Possible just in reel life I’m sure.

But any guesses on what could be a zombie synonym?

Well, it’s ‘Human’, which actually seems the antonym.

Breathing, eating, dancing,

We all appear to be alive,

But only in some hypnotised world,

Where smartphone screens are clear, and rest everything blurred.

The mornings here begin with notifications,

Breakfasts are stretched to brunch,

Hours are spent scrolling and browsing,

With no granny’s place and zero outing!

Outdoor gaming has found its shoulder on PUBG,

Partying is limited to snapchat and selfies,

Dining tables are garnished with phones and not dishes,

Distancing relations by forming some stiff bridges.

This is the world of living zombies,

Who are socially dead but alive on phones,

And the only language known to them,

Is of speedy 4G connection on a good data plan.

They wake up to bright screens,

And sleep with eyes buried on them,

Ignoring life and the ones around,

Dancing on the beats of their phones by becoming a clown.

These are the 21st century monsters,

The mob of deaf and dumb tech-generation,

Who’ve remained unknown of the paradise they were born in.

And restricting survival to their dearest gadget,

They've drowned in its fascinating aura and black magic.
