The Advice
Like a Tsunami the mob of students
Rushed on, violently shouting, burning
A frail old beggar sat at the corner
One boy stumbled and fell on her
When he got up she asked meekly
“Beta, why are you people so angry?
Why are you destroying things?”
Said he, “Old lady we are against the law
We are angry with the government”
“But who elected the government?”
She asked her body shivering all over
“The people elected these mad people”
He said grunting and hissing with venom
“Give me a few coins please,” she said
Adding, ”No food for three days”
He took the purse, but the lady stopped
Said, “Beta that is your parent’s money,
Give me something which is yours”
He took the tiffin box, again she refused
“Food is made by your mother,
Give me yours, I am shivering,” she said,
He started removing jacket he wore
She stopped again and said, “Beta you
Had not earned it, it again someone’s”
As he stood confused she said, “First
Stand on your own legs, earn your own
Bread, and then try to correct the country
Until then don’t waste someone’s
Hard-earned money or their properties
Even if I am a beggar I still work to earn”
He stood silent as she crawled on her four.
