Thank you, dear teacher

For being my life's role model

When I consider all you taught me

I'll never give a rebuttal 

A teacher that's so bright

With a shine like a light

That's you I tell you

You are the best, and it's true

 

I heard a rumble in the jungle

That too far away

I never knew what jungles were

Until you taught social that day

 

A girl asked me about acronyms

I was baffled to hear that name

Until I learned English that day

I told that girl the same

 

I had two cookies

My friend asked me one

That was until you taught me math

I gave him one under the sun

 

My mother said something in Tamil

I did not understand what it was

Until I went to my second lang class

I replied to my mom, with a rush

 

I wanted to be an astronaut

But I needed science for that

I took what you always told me

 And broke the law of gravity

A teacher paves our way

While we're in a time of play

They help us achieve success

In a way, we can never guess

I want to be like you

Smart interesting and engaging

I want to be like you

Giving your time and energy
