Sister Dear

Clear in my mind's eye is that day,

A wrapped ball of snow like tenderness,

I embraced her right away,

She was my good luck charm, my happiness.

Toddling over the yard,

She would sit on my lap to swing,

To critically appreciating the Bard,

She has shown me many facets of living,

Of honoring, caring and giving.

She is the calming light,

Jolly, pretty and bright,

Then she came up to me one day,

Giggling through her braces in a sly way,

"Happy Raksha Bandhan Didi!" said she,

Gifting me a handmade rakhee.
