Abstract Children Stories

Seven Years

Seven Years

Seven years-it's been that long.

Time flies, people change.

As the years passed, our worth tumbled down.

We glided apart, so slowly, so slyly-

So deceptively, we didn't realize how far

We'd drifted until we saw with shock

The vast blue ocean that separated us.

And with the ocean came the pirates-

And with the pirates, you went away-

And I was left behind to watch helplessly

As you put on the eye-patch too.

Seven years-it's been that long.

We've done so much in this little drop of time

And there's so much that I still wish we could do.

We've laughed, we've danced, we've sung songs together-

We've cried, we've shrieked and watched horror movies together-

We've changed old games, invented new ones-

We've talked about people, movies and whatnot.

We've lied about our marks and our lives too-

We've pushed each other on but fought a lot too-

Then how is it that after all these things

Something as stupid as a pirate drew you away?

Seven years-it's been that long.

I never have known how to express myself,

But hear it for once, and forget it if you will-

I've spent more than half my life in your company,

And even now, I know I spent it well and true.

If you go away, no one's blaming you- But

If you stay, know that I'm someone

Who may sometimes speak out without thinking,

Who may sometimes do things that no sane person would,

Who may sometimes wish you would stop bossing around-

But will always want you near doing crazy stuff too…

Because it's been seven years, and I want you to stay for many more.
