Screeching

Screeching

An average morning, an average wake up, an average routine.

But suddenly it's not that average.

It all comes to a halt with a screeching pang that is inexplicably loud.

It's a crash of nothing with a wave of nausea that I cannot explain.

it's a run to safety while wearing weights on my ankles - I can't outrun this.

Something comes crashing down; a heavy plated slab that I can't lift.

It's like screaming but every screech is acid.

It's like crying but every tear is a blade.

It's like clawing at the skin but the blood just never flows.

It's a heart attack that never ceases.

It's a screech that just won't leave.

It's deafening. The silence amidst that screech.
