Pieces
Pieces
In front of my eyes
Is a picture of you and me
Cut into half.
We were holding hands
But those hands can
Never touch each other now.
We were inseparable.
You were my better half
And I was yours
But when we degraded from
Being better to worse,
We never got to know.
It was too late for us
To reconcile.
I was preoccupied with
My own thoughts
And you were moving
Too fast in life.
That picture was the last
Proof of our togetherness.
Cutting it into half
Has only increased my sadness.
Happy times we shared
Will always be a part of
Our memory.
We were not each other's
Fulfilling half,
That is our little sad story.
Long before we lost touch
With each other,
Cracks could be found
Between us.
We chose to ignore
And filled them with
Guilt, accusation and
Lack of trust.
The bitter truth is
We were two lost souls,
Broken and crumbled.
We found each other and
Thought our life
Would be a fairy tale.
But real life does not work that way.
Instead of mending
Each others' broken pieces
We kept on breaking each other
Into half.
Time made us realize
What mistake we made.
But alas, it was too late.
In the end, nothing was left
Except for this picture
Where we were holding hands
While breaking each other
Into pieces.
