Peach Sky
Peach Sky
A thin crisp wind -
Few astray crows,
The luscious green leaves
Of my mango tree sway,
The sun is on its way
Down below the lake,
There's a warmth in the chill
A sway in the still
It's bright -
But an ominous quiet ;
There goes a stuttering rickshaw,
The mock gunfight of the rowdy little kids,
The neighbor aunty can't stop complaining about the cats,
There's the early buzzing of fireflies,
The goodbye chirps and caws -
The swish of water from the open tank,
The ring of the bell from amma's tulsi den
It's just another afternoon
Normal and nice
Marking the break of day
Feeling like the snuggle in a thin blanket
And a hug on a lonely day.
