Nature Needs A Lullaby

Nature Needs A Lullaby

2 mins
308

I saw her standing there,

Her blonde hair was all over the place,

Tears the size of diamonds,

Were streaming all over her face,

Eyes as blue as the ocean,

Were staring right at me,

What was wrong I asked,

She stared at me as if I was a fool,

That the answer was obvious,

And that I was oblivious,

The world is wrong,

She said,

Humans destroy everything they touch,

The gift of nature disappears without much fuss,

The fresh air and the plants that dance,

Turn to rubble without a second glance,

But she still had hope of the world that could be,

That even if everything was dead,

there was still one plant that wouldn’t be,

Alive to thrive and multiply,

That there was still a chance,

So she lay on my lap,

And I started to sing,

She drifted off to sleep,

Her eyes were closed as if she were at peace,

She was so confident of the world that could be,

She even had me convinced that it was a possibility,

Maybe in a thousand years,

When she wakes,

I started to dream,

That the world would change,

Nature would fill the Earth,

Overflowing with happiness by the age,

And humans would make up for all of their mistakes,

There would be Crystal Clear streams,

That you can see your reflection,

Instead of murky green waters,

That are filled with infections,

The number of trees growing by the day,

Leaves so green you’d think that they were all fake,

Clear skies with not a wisp of pollution insight,

With the fresh spray of the salty water in the air,

Its smell reminding you of a world where you truly care,

About all those potted plants and the oxygen that we share,

So, I kept on singing without a doubt,

The girl on my lap I put her to bed,

Rested her head on the ground,

And when she started to blossom,

Petals flying everywhere,

As she exploded into flowers,

Without another care,

The birds chirping happily high in the sky,

As I then realized,

That all nature really needed was a lullaby
