Nari
Nari
“ Nari tome Narayani”- an old proverb in our Indian culture,
But, my mother, who is also a nari, devoid of independence.
From her childhood, she sacrificed education, desires, longings,
Her two brothers sake. Ignored school life permanently.
On her youth she married a person, again a symbol of domination.
For her lipstick, for 10 rupees, depending on my father.
Is it life of Nari? Can we not change this, as our culture is 4000 years old.
Today, girls are marginalized, castified, their value depending on dowry,
Their womb is even cursed, if they gave birth to a girl.
O Almighty, why this type of discrimination, why they are abused in this culture.
They are not able to wear jeans and top, there are staggering looks in every boys.
We are advancing towards modernity, is it the actual proof?
We need change from the deep root; from the very mindset of our culture.
We are the torch bearer, who can revolt against these oddities of life, like
Members of Young Bengal, like the Knights of Arabia.
Oh Nari, must took the shape of Durga and slaughter all the Danavs, so that
We may chant ' Shanti, Shanti Shani’.
