My Share Of Air
My Share Of Air

Looking huge and bold I was standing there
with might and strength no one could dare.
My land then was quite high
Just at hand's distance from my sky.
Day treated me with the envious stares,
I was the reason for million despairs.
Throughout the night I bathe in moonlight
many got swallowed under my shadow
but I shined bright.
I guzzled my share of open air,
and stood there with all the flair.
Untill one day when earth trembled,
It was the first time when I crumpled.
There was neither clasp nor any hold
With every step I fumbled and rolled.
My existence was challenged
I had lost my balance.
I was pushed away from my air of flair,
the highs, my skies and the dare.
I rolled down on back and belly,
over the stones towards the valley.
I slipped on pebbles and the grass,
wondered if I ever had any class.
Roughed, scrubbed, beaten and dithered
I lie here bruised, reduced and withered.
Nothing more than a tiny lump
Easily kicked and crushed
with the slightest thump.
If this is life, live I must.
I still have my share of air,
but with a little dust.
