SHE has arrived, as usual

Without fail and

With her four children 

Bringing cheer to men women


Durga wife of Lord Shiva

Every year takes 

A ten-day sabbatical

To be with us on this planet


A state of euphoria prevails

SHE'S Harbinger of Good

SHE'S Destroyer of evil

And when SHE'S immersed 


In the Ganges, the river

Weeps in sadness 

Another one year before

She descends bringing

Joy, filling the hearts of humans.
