Mother's Day

Your forefathers fought frequent civil wars for a few centuries in the past,

That caused heavy losses, destruction; disruption, distress to family life,  

Husbands and sons were killed or wounded in fights; affecting every family! 

Mothers who faced the brunt of losses and damages; wanted to stop this evil. 

Women who suffered during wars started a movement to stop all the fights

They held talks with warring groups to solve disputes; demanded a ceasefire!

Neighbouring nations got together; expressed willingness for a compromise;

To forget the past, renew hope and take a solemn vow for global peace!    

US civil war ended in 1907; Mother Jarvis was instrumental in founding a day

To express their willingness, desire for compromise and peaceful reconciliation.

Stakeholders wanted to remember this date and mark that day for celebration

Meet and discuss common issues; promote friendly relationships for co-existence!

They agreed to celebrate ‘Mother’s Day on the fourth Sunday in the springtime,

Conveying respect, appreciation and gratitude to mothers and their motherhood,

For their sacrifices and selfless acts for our care, health, safety and wellbeing!

The mothers have done more for you than anyone in the world since you’re born!!
