Missing Darwin
Missing Darwin
Today I saw a cat get crushed by a car,
It's supple body instantly plastered to the road,
Quivering innards exposed to the sun,
And the very next moment a hungry dog appeared,
God knows from where?
Emaciated,
Uncaring of the rush hour traffic,
Or of his own similar fate that could follow,
He settled down in the middle of the road,
For his midday meal of fresh cat meat,
I at once remembered Darwin!
And wondered,
Had Darwin today been with me,
Could it be, that we would have a fresh new hypothesis?
Along with “The Survival of the Fittest”
“The Advent of the Opportunist”?
