Midlife- Been There, Done That

‘Mid life’ as made out, is not at all a time for crisis,

It is no catastrophe that one can’t cope,

It simply amounts to bidding your time, patiently,

Without getting worked up,

There are no highs and there are no lows,

It runs just as plain as a dead man’s ECG,

Much like cruising ahead on a highway,

Safely, following all rules, and within the speed limits,

Only you don’t know where you are headed, or why,

Notwithstanding, it still isn’t a tad boring,

Life still affords you a bountiful choice,

A choice between waking, eating, and sleeping,

Within which, one can work out excitable innovations,

Like - sleeping, eating, waking,

Or, eating, sleeping, waking,

Or, waking, waking, waking,

Or, eating, eating, eating,

And like that you’ve got to keep on going, patiently,

Without getting worked up.
