Lullaby
Lullaby
Do you remember the summer nights,
Where Electricity outages are so common,
You never tolerate them,
I get you on my shoulder,
To show the moon to your half sleepy eyes,
Fanning with a paper in one hand,
I sang lullabies to make you sleep,
After so my many failed attempts,
You used to sleep,
By nesting your face on my chest,
By holding my thumb in your tiny hand,
Your Mother might laugh by listening to my lullabies,
I felt she used to watch us over from the sky,
I never listened to her voice humming to my lullabies,
Have you felt it, daughter,
It has been years,
My voice is trembling at this old age,
Can you sing a lullaby,
To make me sleep and to meet your mother.
