Last Sip
Last Sip
In my twilight years
I reminisce familiar lanes of yore
Those seized moments of unbridled joy
Upgraded them to worthwhile memories
Framed the riveting clicks
And placed neatly on my mind's wall
Ranked them beyond the ephemeral status
In the twilight zone
I am all alone
Motifs of pure fun and ecstasy ...
Everything went
But I am not lonely as it may seem
Having tasted the elixir of solitude
That bursts like
Chocolate syrup in ice cream
I have started savoring each bite of rugged plain
And have adopted "let go"
For the incomprehensible and unsolved mystery
Mellowed with age
Turned worldly-wise to handle...
Difficult and different terrain
Life now means much more
Than salad days
As they say " the last sip tastes the best"
Slowly I have realized and internalized the epithet.
