Ladders In The Sky

Ladders In The Sky

Invisible, intangible, out of our reach

They stand firm, taking us to the heavenly breach

The only ladder that everyone has to climb

All alone, leaving everything behind

With absolutely no baggage you start

With only your soul, from your vices you part

Oblivion of where it ends

With distraught, you ascend

Every step takes you far

From your attractions, healing your scars

Solace you experience

As your soul regains its purity and essence

Slowly you realize

Delusion is a bane in disguise

All your worldly possessions

Are now someone's accessions

And you stand at the top of this ladder

Guilt and repentance make you sadder

Guilt for not living for your own self

And repentance for being a gluttonous self

But, now it's too late

As you had already fallen bait

To the materialistic glamour

For one more life, you clamor

In vain it goes

As you reach the final abode

You stand in the middle of the two gates

In anticipation of karma to decide your final fate...
