Kumartuli, the idol hub

The artisans of Kumartuli toil hard to finish,

For up keeping the commitment which they can't tarnish.

Before the festival they work day in and day out,

They will accomplish their jobs without any doubt.

They make idols of our deities so nicely,

That their creations reach across the globe gleefully.

But after the festival, no one remembers them,

Everybody forgets their needs which is a shame.

The artisans whose labour and deft touches make us happy,

They remain in utter poverty and lead a life shabby.

Still they hope one day their agonies will be over,

But they don't know whether that day will come ever.

But that faint hope keeps them bubbling,

And they keep on marvellous idols making.
