India My Pride
India My Pride
Oh India my Motherland!
To you, I owe my survival,
To you I dedicate my feats,
Not enough to meet the aura of your deeds.
Facing you Mother is an onerous one,
Ashamed of myself not to repay that which has gone.
Standing on this fragrant earth,
I’m no where eligible to gain its worth.
I ask myself and thee,
Is it this what I really mean?
Have I’ve ever attempted to clamber the steps,
The aisle which leads to the glory of my country’s progress.
What would we leave to our posterity?
An empty bucket just to be filled up by charity.
It’s high time now,
To be axiomatic and take this vow.
A decree I declare and an earnest effort to be made,
On this sacred day, the freedom my India gained.
Hitherto, I admit and believe,
None can take the freedom and liberty which we reap.
I salute the martyrs for their martyrdom,
Who stood relentlessly and gave their lives, not for stardom.
Their pains and sacrifices has given us today,
The day as we know is the historic Independence Day.
