I Will Not Take My Life

The dark water in the lake is like a granite mirror.

That gleams silver in the moonlight.

The wicked sirens sit on rocky shores,

Their colorful beauty beckons me to their icy grip.

Their music is sweet and alluring. 

Deep down, I see more emerald monsters,

Circling stealthily in the dark abyss.

I see my hollow reflection, 

A face that is strange and sad.

I see broken souls lurking in the water,  

I see dancing and bloated bodies in the twilight zone. 

Everything in the lake is distorted and twisted.

I am a stranger to myself.

My hands are cold.

I am drowning in my misery.

My soul is broken and exhausted.

I am trapped in a spiral of endless darkness.

I feel the lake water splash on my naked back,

Like the tiny and prickly needles,

I feel an invisible hand dragging me down.

I am ready to surrender my soul,

To the charm and tranquility of the water,

And let it wash me to a distant shore,

A place where all my grief will fade.

I am aware that if I do,

I will never feel the scorching sun on my face again.

I will never experience the warmth of love.

There will be no more annoyances in my life. 

I take a deep breath and listen to the unbridled shadows.

The dark clouds drift away.

The night is once again illuminated. 

I see the twinkling of celestial stars.

I swim calmly back to the water's edge. 

I choose to fight for my life.

Just one more day.

I still have a lot to live for.

I made many mistakes in my life.

There are many things I can still accomplish.

I will not let my depression,

Win this battle.

I choose to fight with fierceness.

For the sake of my life, and happiness.

I will not let the frigid water,

Drag me into a deep void.

In the Kingdom of the Blind, 

I am the one-eyed man.

I will stand here tomorrow!
