Humanitarian Approach
Humanitarian Approach
The water was waist-deep,
Up to my chin level and
I was tip-toeing,
As I recall in mind,
I had witnessed,
The horror of my school,
It is being submerged,
During one day of the onslaught of rain.
The floods isolated the village,
Leaving children sick,
With diarrhoea and colds, and
The elderly marooned.
There were no Food and water supplies,
My village people used to experience sufferings,
For all these erratic cycles of natural disasters.
While a crisis takes a toll on people,
It is necessary in mind to imbibe,
A humanitarian approach to provide yourself to serve.
When people lose the ability to reach out to their loved ones,
Their resilience is impacted,
Humanity wants to lend a helping hand.
In the true spirit of coming together,
Organic growth of volunteers,
Helping each other,
People simply step up the plate there.
