Growing Up

There once was a girl who lived happily in this world

She would go out to play with her friends every day.

She would come home by sunset and drink a cup of milk,

And by 8:30 sharp she'd be asleep with her quilt.

She was happy and carefree and she loved being a kid,

But sometimes she would wish that she could do as adults did.

She would build and explore, ride a bike, live outdoors!

But people always told her that she had to grow some more.

After several trips around the sun, several years had passed,

Our little girl was little no more, she'd finally grown up at last.

She was tall and strong and worked really hard,

And her hard work really paid off.

But there was one little thing that still kept bothering;

That being a grown-up was hard.

Everything was changing and she didn't know what was happening,

She started getting busy and she had to stop imagining.

Cause life was moving faster than it ever had before,

And everyone would tell her, "It's because you're growing old".

It seemed impossible to manage without causing too much damage,

Because life was turning messy and she really started stressing.

But she knew that she was not alone on this journey of growing up

And that's what kept her going,

She was never giving up!

So like everyone around her, she also tried to be,

A part of this good little mess and she did it happily.

And when anyone ever asked her, how she was coping up,

She would say, " Well I'm still learning and I'm still growing up".
