God
God
I am a photo on your walls,
An idol in the temple
Or anything you choose to believe in.
With altering figurines,
Suited to your faith,
I get to celebrate multiple birthdays.
My scriptures have always celebrated life
Yet I am the reason,
For bloodshed in the streets.
In each strike of your sword,
And twisted doctrines,
An atheist is born.
For each stroke on a tree, I cry rain.
Smiling sunshine for united hearts.
You look for me,
When you star gaze,
But I love to be grounded.
I oversee every smile,
You bring to another face.
I give life and I claim it.
I wink at the atheist,
In the staircases to heaven,
As the Devil in me waits in hell.
Spread my blessings, in disguise,
Even you can be me, in someone’s eyes.
